The Deputy Ombudsman responsible for the Department for protection of children rights and rights of persons with special needs, Ms. Vaska Bajramovska-Mustafa on 30th September and 1st October participated in a seminar and attended a study visit organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland and the Ombudsman of that country. The topic of the seminar was “Protection of Children’s Rights” and it presented a forum for exchange of experiences among the countries of Vishegrad group (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary), and the countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey, with special focus on the influence of the Ombudsman for children on promotion of children rights.
Deputy Ombudsman Ms. Vaska Bajramovska-Mustafa presented the work of the Department for children rights in the Republic of Macedonia, particularly stressing the respect paid to the three leading principles of the Convention on the rights of the child of the United Nations: the child’ best interest, the non-discrimination and the right to participation. She also emphasized the right to education of children, particularly the significance of the children right to education, their apprehension of that right as a fundament and key segment for inclusivity, grow and development of all children no matter their status.
Within the scope of the seminar a visit was organized to neuro-rehabilitation center of children in coma as well as a visit to the primary school where children from different ethnic, cultural and religious communities study.
