On 15th September 2017, the Annual Ombudsman’s Report, for the year ended 31st December 2016, was laid before Parliament by the Speaker of the House.
Copies of the Annual Report have been sent to all Government entities, agencies and authorities and copies of the report are also being made available to members of the public, free of charge. A press release to this effect was issued by the Office of the Ombudsman.
As mentioned in the last office update, the format of the Ombudsman’s Annual Report will be changed, with effect from 2017. One of the changes will be that case summaries will be included in the report, rather than the full detailed reports on the cases investigated.
The aim is to make the Annual Ombudsman’s Report more readable to the public, whilst preserving the confidentiality of the individuals concerned in our small jurisdiction.
