Ombudsman’s representative made a speech in a event on Gender Problems and Modern Azerbaijan

Scientific conference on Gender Problems and Modern Azerbaijan was held in Azerbaijan University. Lamiya Zeynalova, representative of the Ombudsman Office and Ombudsman’s advisor on gender issues attended the event.
In her speech she said the Commissioner pays close attention to protection, promotion of woman rights and restoration of their violated rights.
She said the Commissioner built her activity on 12 priority directions of Beijing Action Platform which is one of the main international documents in this regard. The activity includes analysis of Azerbaijan legislation from the gender perspective, organization of teaching of gender theory at secondary and high schools, as well as conduction of public awareness events on gender equality, supporting woman participation in public-social life of the country, developing of state programs for equal opportunities for women and men etc.
L. Zeynalova presented Ombudsman’s textbook “Introduction to Gender” to the library of Azerbaijan University.
