Legal enlightenment work within the framework of NPM is continued

The Commissioner for Human Rights continues mutual cooperation with the Academy of Justice under the Ministry of Justice.

Within the framework of this cooperation Rashid Rumzade Chief of National Proventive Group (NPG) delivered next training on "Activity of the Ombudsman as a National Preventive Mechanism" for newly recruited persons to Judicial Expertise Center.

He gave broad information about designation of Ombudsman as a National Preventive Mechanism, work carried out within the framework of this mandates focusing on examples from national, foreign and international organizations’ experience.

During the course standards enshrined in the Istanbul Protocol of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the SPT recommendations and CPT General Reports, as well as relevant national legal acts were taught.

He also informed participants about legal reforms held in the country following the Ombudsman’s initiatives and proposals, approaches regarding investigation of treatment and detention conditions based on international standards.
