Factsheet: Equality Bodies’ role in implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan

European Parliament’s resolution on minimum income
On 15 March, the European Parliament took a step forward in fighting socio-economic inequality and promoting inclusion, by adopting a resolution on minimum income. The resolution includes a call for an EU Directive on adequate minimum income, which is important to address the current cost of living crisis and ensure equal access to the labour market.

2023 Report on gender equality in the EU
The European Commission published its annual report on gender equality in the EU, which presents actions and achievements to improve gender equality by Member States and EU institutions. The report is part of the Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025. 


Report: Promotion of gender balance in political decision-making
This report by the European network of legal experts in gender equality and non-discrimination, provides an overview of the legal and policy framework on the promotion of gender balance in political decision-making in Europe, identifies obstacles, highlights best practices, proposes ways forward for European Union and Commission actions.

Conference on “Disability Rights, Accessibility and Artificial Intelligence”
This Conference, organised by the Swedish Disability Rights Federation in collaboration with the European Disability Forum, will take place on 31 March at 9.30-17.30 CET in Stockholm and online via Zoom. The conference will address several topics impacting persons with disabilities in the European Union, such as the new AccessibleEU Center, digitalisation, and Artificial Intelligence in the context of disability rights. Equal citizenship for persons with disabilities: an Op-Ed on the European Disability Card
The European Commission is intentioned to propose legislation creating a European Disability Card recognised in all member states. Social protection for people with disabilities in Europe: an analysis of policies in 35 countries
The European Commission has recently published a synthesis report on the access to social protection support by people with disabilities. By looking at 35 countries, this study describes and analyses the provision of disability-specific income support and of selected support services for people with disabilities, recent social protection reforms, national debates on the topic, and identifies good practices. 


Implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Human rights indicators
This guide by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) helps independent national monitoring frameworks to design and improve indicators to assess the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at national level.

Protecting Minority Rights: A practical guide to developing comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation
The Guide is the first ever guidance by the United Nations on laws which states must enact to meet their international human rights law obligations to prohibit discrimination. It was developed by the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights in partnership with Equal Rights Trust and in consultation with academic and civil society experts, including Equinet. The guide provides an interpretation of all related normative content, as well as concrete practices and guidance, with a dedicated chapter on Equality Bodies.

A comparative analysis of non-discrimination law and gender equality law in Europe
The European network of legal experts in gender equality and non-discrimination has published two comparative analyses of non-discrimination law and of gender equality law. They provide an overview of non-discrimination and gender equality legislation in Europe in 2022, including the latest important legal developments at the national level, such as case law and legislative amendments.

ILGA World database
ILGA World launched a database that collects information on laws, human rights bodies, advocacy opportunities, and news related to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics issues worldwide.The knowledge on the database can be accessed through one of its six areas or by jurisdiction.
