Ombudsmen and chairs of petitions committees from across the EU have called on EU citizens to use their vote in the upcoming European elections, which will be held between 6-9 June 2024.
In a statement, they noted that a strong electoral mandate is an essential part of democratic accountability in the EU and that the health of democratic institutions requires continual reinforcement through strong civic engagement.
The elections will decide which Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will represent citizens when it comes to preparing new laws. The new MEPs will also help determine who runs the next European Commission.
