WE WORK TO BRING ALL OUR PEOPLE HOME!

The Ombudsman’s Office hosted a meeting of the Working Group of Point 4 of the Peace Formula. The meeting was attended by 30 countries and 4 representatives of international organizations: the UN, the OSCE, the ICRC and the EU. The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, reported that the Working Group had:

█ held the 2nd plenary meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, where 9 ideas for implementation were presented, ranging from the placement of children to their physical return, reintegration and rehabilitation;

█ launched the International Platform for the Release of Civilians Unlawfully Detained by the Russian Federation. Currently, Ukraine is in a continuous search for a mediator in this process;

█ a delegation led by Turkish Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç visited Ukraine and made sure that Russians are held in accordance with the Geneva Convention. We jointly visited a camp for Russian prisoners of war.

Dmytro Lubinets also announced that he had appealed to the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (SPT) and the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) to visit all places of detention where Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians are held in order to prevent torture. ! Ukraine is taking all possible measures and looking for new mechanisms to bring back our people, and hopes that each of the Working Group’s members will contribute
