FRA will speak at a workshop of the Migration Hub of the ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy. FRA will contribute to a panel discussion dedicated to ‘Democracy that Delivers: Empowering Local Actors in Migration Governance and Democratic Participation’.

FRA will highlight the key role of cities in implementing the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights in migration contexts. Drawing on its evidence, FRA will underline that discrimination and barriers to services often arise at local level, making municipal action essential to prevent rights violations and strengthen trust and democratic governance. 

The workshop is part of ALDA’s General Assembly in Malta from 12 to 14 May. ALDA brings together around 300 members, including local authorities, associations of local authorities, and civil society organisations in Europe.
