The Ombudsman’s team held an "open day" in Dibër today, meeting with residents and institutional representatives from across the region to hear their concerns firsthand.

Commissioners Vilma Shurdha and Erinda Meli listened to citizens' complaints and addressed the key issues raised by the community with the relevant officials:

  • Property and the Dibër Cadastre: Deficiencies in Cadastre office services, obstacles in the legalization process, and administrative hurdles regarding overlapping property claims.
  • Infrastructure and Public Services: Lack of drinking water and sewage systems, as well as damaged and non-functional electrical substations.
  • Road Safety: A lack of basic infrastructure investments and protective roadside barriers.
  • Agriculture and Support for Farmers: The absence of a municipal collection point for agricultural produce, which complicates sales and risks the spoilage of local crops.
  • Social Issues: Low pension levels and the need for proportional income compensation for all pensioners.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the team provided free legal counsel and formally registered the citizens' complaints, initiating the necessary administrative investigations.

Our "listening tour" continues across Albania! The next meeting will take place next Tuesday at the Municipality of Korça, at 11:00.

We look forward to seeing you there!
