FRA has launched the Human Rights Structures Navigator – a new comprehensive tool providing a centralised overview of major human rights institutions and structures across the EU and candidate countries. This new resource aims to support practitioners, EU institutions, Member States and stakeholders in navigating human rights protection mechanisms effectively.

The Navigator offers detailed information about major human rights protection structures in Europe, including their mandates, legal foundations, institutional roles and locations. It facilitates access to reliable information for those involved in human rights work across Europe.

The Navigator serves multiple purposes:

  • identifying existing gaps in national human rights protection systems;
  • highlighting synergies between various national bodies;
  • detecting risks of fragmentation within human rights frameworks.

These features may be particularly useful when lawmakers establish new human rights bodies or expand the responsibilities of existing ones.

By providing access to reliable and comprehensive information, the Navigator supports more coherent and resilient fundamental rights protection throughout Europe. It enhances coordination between different actors, contributing to stronger human rights safeguards across Member States and candidate countries.
