On July 31, 2026, the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, and the Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Georgia, Isabella Castrogiovanni, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
The Memorandum is based on the long-standing partnership of the parties and aims to continue and further deepen the existing cooperation in the field of protection of children's rights, as well as to determine the main directions of future cooperation.
The cooperation includes support for the thematic monitoring of children's rights, strengthening of the capacity of the Public Defender's Office of Georgia, raising public awareness of children's rights and protection mechanisms, as well as joint activities in the areas of research, advocacy, knowledge and practice sharing, which will contribute to the development of child-friendly and inclusive approaches and strengthening of the protection of children's rights in the country.
On March 5, 2026, the Public Defender of Georgia and the acting Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund in Georgia also signed a joint work plan for 2026. The work plan defines the priorities and activities to be implemented during the year, while the Memorandum of Understanding creates a broader and long-term framework for the partnership between the parties.
