On November 4, 2025, employees of the Equality Department of the Public Defender's Office, with the support of the European Union, conducted training for representatives of medical institutions on issues of equality and prevention of discrimination.

The training aimed to deepen the knowledge of representatives of medical institutions about the right to equality and the principles of non-discrimination in order to minimize discriminatory violations of human rights in the process of their activities.

The training participants discussed in detail the content of the right to equality, the scope of application of the Georgian anti-discrimination legislation, as well as the mandate and practice of the Public Defender as a national anti-discrimination mechanism. Special attention was paid to cases of discrimination in the medical field, as well as issues of preventing discrimination and sexual harassment in labour relations. The meeting included both theoretical and practical components, which allows the participants to closely connect the acquired knowledge with their own professional activities.

It is noteworthy that similar training was held for representatives of the medical sector in May 2025 as well. The Public Defender's Office will continue to cooperate with the private sector in order to promote the strengthening of a culture of equality and the prevention of all forms of discrimination.
