To mark the European Day for Victims of Crime on 22 February, FRA has created an infographic to raise awareness of victim support services, and their role in helping victims of crime have effective access to justice in the EU. The infographic contains clickable icons which direct the reader to both FRA resources and the websites of organisations which can help put victims in touch with support services.

In January, FRA published the report Victims of crime in the EU: the extent and nature of support for victims, which examined the support service provision for victims of crime across the 28 EU Member States, in line with the 2012 EU Victims’ Directive.

Previous FRA studies have shown that many victims of crimes in the EU still do not report the incident to the police or any other organisation. Many barriers remain to accessing justice, from a lack of funding of support services, concerns over bureaucratic hurdles, to simply being unaware of services available for victims.

This infographic aims to raise awareness of these issues, while also highlighting innovative resources developed in Member States. Readers are encouraged to follow embedded links to organisations which can direct victims to relevant support services alongside FRA’s report.

The infographic will also be on the website of Victim Support Europe, who, alongside a wide range of EU organisations, have issued a joint statement All Victims Recognised, No Victim Forgotten to commemorate the event.  Please feel free to visit our infographics page and share it via social media or other means.
