Europe’s economic future is one of the many challenges facing the EU at present. In response, the EU has made growth, jobs and investment one of its priorities. Another priority area, fundamental rights, can help provide a much-needed boost to innovation and entrepreneurship throughout the region. That’s why International Workers’ Day, on 1 May, is an apt time to affirm freedom to conduct a business as being a modern supplement to workers’ rights.
