Parallel inquiries are a useful way of combining the investigative weight of ombudsmen in the Member States as well as the European Ombudsman (EO) to look into issues involving both EU and national or regional administrations. The aim of this questionnaire is to gather your ideas on future parallel inquiries – past examples have related to whether EU funds are being spent in line with the Charter of Fundamental Rights or the rights of people being returned to countries outside the EU – so we can see what areas are of particular interest to you. We are also looking for your views on ENO and how it could be further developed. Your answers will be collated by the EO office and will feed into the conference on 26 October so that concrete ideas emerging from the discussions can be acted on as soon as possible.
