Equality bodies ensuring non-discrimination in healthcare

Our new Perspective “Equality, Diversity, and Non-Discrimination in Healthcare: Learning from the Work of Equality Bodies” builds on the changing context brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. It establishes the learning from the work of equality bodies on healthcare for policy-makers at European and national level and for equality bodies themselves.

Equality bodies tackling discrimination of union workers

This newly published discussion paper presents an overview of the mandates and functions of equality bodies as freedom of movement bodies. It is based on the work of the Equinet’s Freedom of Movement Cluster and it provides examples of casework, research projects, promotional campaigns and other good practices.

Spain: Discrimination on race or ethnic origin

Interested in tackling racial and ethnic discrimination in Spain? You can learn about the perception of discrimination by potential victims, with a special focus on the field of employment, through a study by the Council against Racial & Ethnic Discrimination. You can also learn about the sociodemographic profiles, identities, needs and discrimination experiences of the African and Afro-Descendant population, thanks to a study by the Director General for Equal Treatment & Ethnic Diversity.

Equinet’s members 2020 annual reports released: Belgium, Malta

Malta‘s National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) has released their 2020 annual report. Belgium’s Unia annual has also made their report available in French, Dutch and German.

The EU Employment Directive still leaves older workers behind

AGE Platform Europe has launched a report on the application and interpretation of the Employment Framework Directive by EU and national courts. It highlights the challenges older people face in accessing justice and equally enjoying the right to work. The report builds on the ongoing collaboration with Equinet, including Equinet’s 2018 discussion paper on the issue.
