On 21 January, FRA took part at a conference on border management in Vilnius.

The conference brought together Interior Ministers of EU Member States, Schengen Associated Countries, as well as representatives from the European Commission and EU Agencies.
 

FRA raised the need to ensure that any measures to protect the EU’s external borders must fully respect fundamental rights and international law. The Agency further noted the need for national or EU mechanisms to regularly monitor the impact of measures on fundamental rights.
 

The Interior Ministries of Austria, Greece, Lithuania and Poland organised the event.
