On 13 December, FRA will speak at a webinar on ‘Child-friendly justice: Do words matter’.
The Child Friendly Justice European Network organised the event. It brings together European and international child-rights experts.
The panel will debate the risk of labelling children by using certain terminologies and the need for non-stigmatising language in child justice.
FRA will draw from its own research and publications. It will refer to the terms and concepts used in the areas of rights of the child, child-friendly justice, equality and non-discrimination.
Outcomes of this discussion shall also feed into guidance and the training of professionals working with children, such as the Council of Europe’s online HELP courses.
