On 16 December, FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty spoke at the launch of the OECD’s first global report on the protection and promotion of civic space.

The report builds on a civic space survey conducted by the OECD with 52 countries. This included most EU Member States.

It takes stock of governments’ role in creating, enabling and protecting an environment that allows citizens and civil society to play an active role in policymaking and service delivery.

FRA contributed to the report as part of the OECD’s civic space Advisory Group. The report features a FRA article about civic space in the EU.
