Dear High Commissioner Denisova,

My heart goes out to you and all Ukrainians in these terrible times. Like so many others around the world, I am closely following developments in Ukraine and hoping for an immediate end to the human suffering and to the aggression from Russia.

The measures put forward by the European Union are a testament to how much support there is for Ukraine as it takes a stand - for itself and for all of us - in favour of democracy. I trust and hope that your country will prevail.

The world has been impressed, but also humbled, by the resilience of the Ukrainian people and by the bravery and leadership of President Zelensky. It is that resilience and leadership that has compelled others to act and which has acted as a moral beacon in these dark times.

Please accept my best wishes and solidarity and may you, your family, and your colleagues stay safe.
