Ombudsman Ger Deering was Guest Speaker at the ‘Sharing is Caring’ North-South conference on 14 September 2022.  The conference was organised by Akidwa and Hapani.  

Akidwa promotes equality and justice for migrant women living in Ireland while Hapani supports refugees, asylum seekers, individuals and families living in Northern Ireland. 

The conference saw the launch of the Toolkit for people working with migrants ‘Becoming Culturally Competent’.   

The Ombudsman spoke about his role in investigating complaints from migrants and asylum seekers about services provided by public bodies including government agencies.
