People with disabilities are being let down by public services due to poor or inaccessible communications, the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) has warned. The Ombudsman’s investigations, detailed in a new report, Spotlight on accessible communication: your stories, your rights, found instances where disabled people did not receive information in accessible formats such as audio materials or British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters, leaving them confused, distressed, and financially worse off as a result.

Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Mr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput, presented the Office's Annual Report 2025 to the public, alongside the latest edition (Vol. XXI) of the Quarterly Newsletter. The reporting year proved transformative for the Office, marked by record complaint redressal, digital innovation, and expanded international engagement.

The Yukon Ombudsman has completed a formal investigation into the Whitehorse single-family residential lot lottery process. The investigative report concluded that the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources (EMR) was not meeting the intention of the legislation, resulting in an unfair lottery process.

The Ombudsman, Ms. Jurima Bryson, LL.M. is bringing the services of the Office of the Ombudsman closer to residents through the campaign ‘Ombudsman in the neighborhood’. With this campaign, the Ombudsman wants to be more visible and accessible in the neighborhoods.

The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) has announced the subject of its latest Own Initiative investigation. The investigation is looking into how Northern Ireland's health trusts provide care to people with a learning disability.

On July 24, 2026, the Education and Culture Committee of the Control Yuan (CY) approved an investigation report submitted by the sixth-term CY members Lai Ting-ming and Tien Chiu-chin regarding the rights and interests of international students studying in Taiwan. The report urged the Ministry of Education (MOE) to respond to the trend of higher education internationalization by learning from advanced countries’ forward-looking approaches to global talent acquisition, accelerating cross-ministerial resource integration, and refining admission mechanisms to attract outstanding international students, thereby enhancing Taiwan’s global competitiveness in higher education.

The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab hosted the fourth batch of its International Internship Programme 2026 from 10–15 August 2026, welcoming a six-member delegation from the Project Management Bureau, Philippines. The five-day programme provided participants with comprehensive exposure to the institutional framework, complaint management systems and outreach mechanisms of the office.

Following the successful completion of the first two sessions, the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab hosted batch 3 of the International Internship Programme 2026 from 27–31 July 2026, welcoming three international participants from African Ombudsman institutions. The participants included Mr. Godfrey Lewanika, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Office of the Public Protector, Zambia; Ms. Lwandisa Zaula, Outreach Coordinator, Public Protector South Africa; and Mr. Philani Mkize, Business Analyst, Public Protector South Africa.
