On 4 March, FRA presented a preview of the results from its study on violence against women to a hearing in the Austrian Parliament in Vienna.

In his last report for the Chamber of Deputies the previous Defender informed about his comments on non-legislative document concerning of establishing a monitoring mechanism.

Infection with HIV (including the asymptomatic phase) can be considered disability, i.e. a prohibited ground of discrimination according to the Antidiscrimination Act. On the basis of the Defender’s report, the complainant filed a court action.

On 18 February 2014, Ms Daniela Longo has been appointed as the new Ombudsman of the Autonomous Province of Trento. Ms Longo replaces de previous Ombudsman, Mr Sampaolesi. We are happy to welcome Ms Longo to the Network and look forward to continuing our fruitful cooperation with her institution.
