La Médiatrice européenne, Emily O'Reilly, demande au président du Conseil européen, Donald Tusk, d'envisager de publier des informations sur les réunions que lui-même et son cabinet mènent avec des représentants d'intérêts.
Il est entendu que de telles réunions sont essentielles à son rôle, mais à Mme O'Reilly de rajouter que de telles réunions ne devraient être organisées qu'avec des lobbyistes répertoriés, conformément au champ d'application du registre de transparence de l'UE.
Le Conseil européen, qui définit l'orientation politique globale de l'UE, se mettrait ainsi en conformité avec les normes actuelles de l'UE. Ceci enverrait également un signal positif fort, au moment où la Commission, le Parlement et le Conseil de l'UE entament des négociations concernant la révision du registre de transparence de l'UE.

The European Ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly, is asking European Council President Donald Tusk to consider publishing information about meetings he and his cabinet hold with interest representatives.
While such meetings are essential to his role, Ms O’Reilly has also suggested that any such meetings should only be with registered lobbyists, if they fall under the scope of the EU Transparency Register.
This would bring the European Council - which sets the EU’s overall political direction - into line with current EU standards. It would also send an important positive signal as the Commission, Parliament and Council of the EU begin negotiations on a revised EU Transparency Register.
