This year marks the 10th anniversary of the time when the Anti-Discrimination Act entered into force and when the Defender was also given the role of the national equality body pursuant to the European Union legislation. Since the Defender lacks the power to represent victims of discrimination in court, lawyers play the key role in this respect. Therefore, the Defender has prepared a document to help them with this task. In addition to recommendations and a summary of specific cases that the Defender referred to the Pro Bono Aliance to arrange for legal representation, the text further includes an analysis of a survey focusing on the assessment of the lawyers’ experience with representing victims of discrimination.

On 14 and 15 October, the Austrian Ombudsman Werner Amon received the Kosovar Ombudsman Hilmi Jashari and his 11-member delegation. The delegation consisted of leading staff members of the Ombuds Institution in Kosovo as well as from the EU project "Support to Ombudsperson Institution in Kosovo". The study visit to Vienna was organised as part of this project, enabling the delegation to also visit other institutions in the field of human rights, equal treatment and anti-discrimination.

El Palacio de la Aljafería acogerá mañana martes la jornada ‘La experiencia aragonesa ante nuestros mayores en soledad no elegida’, en la que intervendrán más de una docena de altos cargos del Gobierno de Aragón y el Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza, así como miembros de diversos consejos y asociaciones, y expertos en materia de trabajo social, psicología y medicina de familia.
