A man had to have the same operation twice after a surgical error meant a painful lump was not removed from his back, an investigation by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman has found. The routine operation to remove a lipoma, which is a benign tumour, was not carried out correctly meaning that Lukasz K had to have a second operation to remove it.

On 15 May 2019, the activity report of the Seimas Ombudsmen’s Office was discussed at the Seimas Committee on Human Rights: almost 2 000 individual’s complaints were received in the year. People complain about the bureaucracy of civil servants or inability to solve their problems in different state institutions; however, it is noted that public awareness of human rights is still not sufficient.
