We are pleased to share with you the abridged English version of the 2020 Annual Report of the Ombudsman Institution of the Republic of Turkey. The original Annual Report is 582 pages long.

The year 2020 has been a very challenging year for all countries in the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In these difficult times, the Ombudsman Institution of Turkey continued its works without any interruption and received significant number of applications which reached 90,209. The total number of complaints since the establishment of the Institution has reached 170.744. And the number of decisions issued in 2020 is 91,100.

The number of cases resolved through amicable settlement is 2.867 in 2020. The compliance rate of the administrations with our Recommendations was 20% in 2013, whereas it increased to 76,38% in 2020.

In addition, 184,758 people were contacted via e-mail, telephone or face to face to provide them legal assistance, to guide them and to find a solution to their problems.

Hanna Vang was elected Ombudsman on the 1st of January 2021 for a period of 5 years. She took office on the 1st of April.

Currently, the staff of the Ombudsman consists of three legal advisers and a secretary.

The Ombudsman of the Faroese Parliament is directly elected by parliament for periods of five years. The first Ombudsman was Joen H. Andreasen, was elected for the period 1. January 2001-21. December 2005. The second Ombudsmans, Sólja í Ólavsstovu, was elected for the period 1. january 2006 - 31. december 2020

Le vendredi 2 avril 2021, le Comité Enfant de l’Association des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie (AOMF) organisait une formation en ligne sur le rapport « Les effets du Covid-19 sur les droits de l’enfant » du Délégué général aux droits de l’enfant.

Le Délégué général aux droits de l’enfant, Bernard De Vos, a présenté le rapport de son Institution et les recommandations faites au gouvernement belge, inscrites sous dix thématiques.

Des intervenants du Projet belge Parlons Jeunes ont présenté une vidéo, Le (dé)confinement à Beekkant,  co-créée par les jeunes de ce projet et par l’ASBL Comme un Lundi.

Thibault Coeckelberghs, fondateur de Comme un lundi, et deux jeunes de Parlons Jeunes, Ibtissam et Wahid, ont partagé leurs expériences du projet et plus largement du (dé)confinement.

A la suite de ces interventions, un temps a été consacré aux échanges entre les différents médiateurs avec les jeunes du projet Parlons Jeunes.
