The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman has asked East Riding of Yorkshire Council to apologise to a foster couple after it removed two vulnerable children, they hoped to adopt, from their care.
The couple took on the children after their birth parents were unable to look after them. When they were removed from their parents’ care, the children were described by the judge as ‘to a considerable degree unmanageable’.

Die Bürgerbeauftragte für soziale Angelegenheiten des Landes Schleswig-Holstein, Samiah El Samadoni, hat heute (Donnerstag) ihren Tätigkeitsbericht für das Jahr 2018 vorgestellt. Allein im Jahr des 30jährigen Bestehens des Amtes wurden 3.272 Petitionen eingereicht. Somit wurden von 1988 bis Ende des Jahres 2018 insgesamt 83.672 Petitionen an die Bürgerbeauftragte gerichtet. „Diese Zahl zeigt auf, dass es noch immer viele Beschwerden gegen Sozialbehörden und Bedarf der Menschen für Unterstützung, Beratung und Information gibt", erklärte El Samadoni auf der Landespresskonferenz. „Der zahlenmäßige Schwerpunkt liegt wie bisher im Bereich Hartz IV mit 814 Petitionen und der Gesetzlichen Krankenversicherung mit 543 Petitionen."
