”32 preventive visits out of which 16 regular and 16 follow-up control visits were carried out in 2013. All the visits to places of deprivation of liberty were unannounced, and for all of them separate reports containing findings and recommendations were submitted. At the visits, aside of the NPM team, seven professional associations of citizens with involvement of 12 external experts in the field of psychiatry, forensics, psychology, criminology and defectology participated.”

Kein Kindergartenplatz für chronisch kranke Kinder?

Einem Kleinkind wurde trotz Zusage ein Krippenplatz in einem Kindergarten der Stadt Wien verweigert, nachdem die Mutter den Kindergarten über die Diabeteserkrankung ihres Kindes informiert hat. Viele andere Kindergärten weigerten sich ebenfalls das Kind aufzunehmen. Für Volksanwalt Dr. Fichtenbauer ist diese Situation untragbar.

”With great concern I inform you that during this reporting year I concluded torture in KPD “Idrizovo”, as well as overcrowding in the accommodation capacities, absence of hygiene, inadequate health system. Also, there were limitations of the right to freedom of movement, in particular among the members of Roma community at the border crossings.  When it comes to the system for protection of the administrative law, I concluded extremely bad administrative management of the administration and administrative judiciary, while as in the local self-government there were inequal treatment of the mayors towards the employees due to political affiliation“.
